John Elwonger has been a member of Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church since shortly after moving to Summerfield in 2006. He and his wife Sharon transferred their membership from Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Their son, Owen, a student at the University of Mississippi, was baptized and confirmed at ORPC. John has over 30 years of commercial insurance experience serving in underwriting, management and training roles. He is a native of Iowa and has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Iowa. He enjoys traveling, playing cards and spending time with family.
Diana Gunter is married to James and they have 3 children – Will, Andrew, and Samuel. They have lived on the family farm in Stokesdale since 2006, when they moved back to the area. Professionally, Diana’s degree from UNC-CH allowed her to enjoy positions at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, UNC Hospitals, and PPD. Since moving to the farm, Diana has grown the farm offerings while also managing the family’s rental property. Since joining ORPC in February 2010, Diana has volunteered with Children’s Sunday School, Children’s Worship, VBS, nursery, and served on the Personnel Committee for several years. Outside of church, Diana is active in the Scouting program at ORPC, volunteers at her children’s schools, is a member of the high school band boosters. Diana was raised in the Presbyterian Church, and this will be her first time serving as Elder.
Mia Malesovas grew up in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. She met her best friend (aka husband) Jeff in Hoboken, when they were students at NYU. They have been married 30 years and have two amazing adult children named Quincy and Harry. Harry lives in Asheville and Quincy lives in Australia. Mia has devoted her career in education to immigrant families and those that are underserved. For fun, she enjoys reading, being creative, listening to music, being in nature and spending time with the people she loves. Mia is looking forward to serving as an elder, and getting to see where God may use her.
Seth Wilder is the son of Amy and Jimmy Wilder and brother to Benjamin. Seth is a junior at Northwest High School. Seth is active in band and Boy Scouts, recently earning his Eagle Scout Award. Seth has been attending ORPC for 13 years.
Deacons Class of 2023
Cole Kampen joined ORPC in 2018, along with her husband, Andy, and three children, Clara, Eleanor, and Simon. In those two years, she has served in the church garden and in children’s worship. She is a den leader for the girls in Pack 600 at ORPC. Cole grew up in Greensboro, lives in Oak Ridge, and works in Kernersville as a Pelvic Health Physical Therapist. Cole has been so delighted to find a church home at ORPC and cherishes the connections she has made here.
Duryea Taylor has been a member of ORPC since 2004. This is his second time serving as a deacon. Duryea enjoying singing with the choir. Duryea has served as an usher, worship lay reader, participates in the Generosity committee. Duryea enjoys helping with Greensboro Urban Ministries. He likes to go to movies, reading and walking in the park. Duryea is grateful for gifts of service and helping others which God allows him to fulfill. Duryea would like to thank everyone for their prayers and consideration for deaconship.
Youth Deacon Avery Burnham is in 10th grade at Northern Guilford High School. Avery plays school basketball and travel basketball for the Greensboro Lady Gaters. Avery’s family (Brian, Lesley, Davis, and Courtney) has been members of the church for 23 years. Avery was recently confirmed and she is an active member of the youth group. She is excited about the opportunity to serve the church and it’s members.
