“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, … let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.” Hebrews 12:1-2
Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church USA, which has more than 2.5 million members and roots that date back to the 16th century. We are a member of Salem Presbytery, which gives us the ability to access—and to contribute to—best practices for being the church in the world today.
Our Vision is to be a worshiping, loving, learning, growing, giving Christian community.
Our Mission is to honor and glorify God through faithful worship, caring discipleship, and devoted service.
We are a group of people seeking to follow Jesus Christ together. Our Sunday morning worship service at 10 a.m. is a blend of different styles with a casual feel welcoming people of all ages. Kids are encouraged to come! Our commitment to mission extends beyond the walls of the church to Oak Ridge and surrounding communities and to places such at Chiapas, Mexico. We walk together in faith supporting each other and having fun too!
In 2014, Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church (ORPC) celebrated 20 years of worship and service in Northwest Guilford County. On December 4, 1994, with around one hundred members, the church was officially chartered by Salem Presbytery as Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church. In August 1997, there was a groundbreaking for the building we occupy today, and the building was dedicated on July 26, 1998.
ORPC strives to serve the community by establishing Scout Troops (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts), providing safe space for AA meetings, serving at Urban Ministry preparing meals for the homeless and collecting food from our local grocery stores, walking in the local CROP walk and working on Habitat for Humanity house projects. Our adults and youth are actively engaged in mission attending trips in the US and Mexico each year.
As we look forward to the future, Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church is committed to deepening our Christian discipleship in the areas of worship, mission, ministry with children and youth and adult spiritual growth.
