Presbyterian Women

Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:

to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
to support the mission of the church worldwide,
to work for justice and peace, and
to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens
the Presbyterian Church and witnesses to the promise of God's kingdom.

Presbyterian Women is the national women’s organization of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). With a history of more than 200 years and more than 300,000 members, PW is organized at all levels of the Presbyterian Church.  Presbyterian Women is open to all women who choose to participate in or be supportive of the organization in any way.  PW supports the mission of the Presbyterian Church worldwide through education, interpretation, global awareness and financial and material gifts.

Two Special offerings are taken each year.

The Birthday Offering, received in the spring, supports up to five projects which are chosen at the national level.  In the fall, the Thank Offering is received and is used for a number of small projects, both nationally and internationally.

Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church currently has a Morning Circle and an Evening Circle which meet once a month.  All women of the church are invited to this monthly fellowship for Bible study, and, of course, food and fun!

ORPC's PW also supports the local mission of Tabitha's House which is a halfway house in Guilford County, NC for Christian women released from prison, where they can spend up to six months learning the skills they need to re-enter society.   Tabitha's House also provides a helping hand to women released from prison to obtain household items to setup a home of their own.

Each year our Salem Presbytery Presbyterian Women sponsors a Fall Gathering and a Spring Gathering for all women in the Salem Presbytery.  In the late winter, a Spiritual Enrichment Day is also held.  These events are held in various churches within the Presbytery.   All women are invited to attend!
