History

Oak Ridge Presbyterian Church began with a study that determined the northwest sector Guilford County was a prime location for a new Presbyterian congregation.  Area Presbyterian churches formed a steering committee and contributed to help Salem Presbytery purchase our six acre site.

On June 20, 1993, the first worship service was held in Linville Chapel at Oak Ridge Military Academy.  The core congregation of thirty-three has grown steadily and now stands at almost three hundred.

From Linville chapel, the congregation moved into existing buildings on the property that had been renovated for our purpose.  Today, our main building is an 8,400 square foot multi-purpose structure completed and dedicated in July of 1998.

We rejoice with many Christians throughout Salem Presbytery and friends of our church far and wide whose generosity, love and prayers made a dream this reality.
