Dear Scouts and Parents:
October 1, 2010 marks the
beginning of Cub Scout Pack 600’s annual Popcorn Fundraiser! This is the only fundraiser we will have for
the year, so please give it your best effort.
The money the pack receives will be used to pay for:
- Camping Trips
- Skiing Trips
- Blue and Gold Dinner
- Pancake Breakfast
- Pinewood Derby
- Achievements and Advancement Certificates /
Awards
Our hope is to exceed our
total from last year in order to continue serving our cubscouts while keeping
yearly dues affordable. The Boy Scouts
of America have agreements with other fundraising groups that prohibit us from
selling prior to October 1st.
We ask that you honor these agreements and do not sell popcorn before
the official start date. All popcorn
orders are due by November 2nd.
We hope everyone has fun selling
popcorn. Following are some important
tips and information:
- Sales Goal for each Cub Scout is to fill up one
sheet (30 customers).
- Scouts who participate in a “Show & Sell”
will receive proportional credit for the sales based on the total
volunteer hours and the total receipts from all “Show & Sells”
- Show & Sells take place in front of open
businesses. Be energetic but do not
badger people or hinder them from entering or leaving the place of business.
- Full uniform is required during any Popcorn Selling
Activity. Remember that uniform shirts are to be
tucked-in! Take pride in
representing Cub Scout Pack 600.
- Do not run around parking lots! Parking lots are not playgrounds.
- Scout parents are to stay at the “Show &
Sell” with their scout.
- Plan what you are going to say before going
door-to-door or work at a Show & Sell.
Tell your customers that this is how we pay for Scouting
Activities.
- During the Show & Sell and Door-to-Door
Sales, Pack 600 will not ask for donations. However, if someone offers to make a
donation, we will accept them.

How to Sell Popcorn
The best way to be prepared to sell popcorn is to practice
what you will say. Keep it simple! You may want to say:
“I’m ___________________ with Cub Scout Pack 600. We’re selling popcorn to help raise money to
go to camp. It’s delicious! Will you help support us by buying some
popcorn?”
Hand the order form and a pen to the person.
Always say “Thank-you” even if the person did not buy any
popcorn.
Tips
- View
the scout on-line training at www.trails-end.com
(see inside of blue popcorn folder for log-in instructions)
- Wear
your uniform while selling
- Always
go with another scout and/or parent
- Sell
during daylight hours
- Keep
your order form neat
- Walk
on driveways and walkways. Do not
walk on peoples lawns!
- Do not
enter someone’s home
- Have
an extra pen
Goal
The goal for each Cub Scout is to fill up one sheet (30
orders).
- Do
your best
- Do not
stop when you have filled up one sheet.
The more you sell, the more funding the pack has for activities and
the higher your prize level.
